About Adam Conway
I’m Adam Conway, an Irish technology fanatic with a BSc in Computer Science and I'm XDA’s Lead Technical Editor. My Bachelor’s thesis was conducted on the viability of benchmarking the non-functional elements of Android apps and smartphones such as performance, and I’ve been working in the tech industry in some way or another since 2017.
In my spare time, you’ll probably find me playing Counter-Strike or VALORANT, and you can reach out to me at adam@xda-developers.com, on Twitter as @AdamConwayIE, on Instagram as adamc.99, or u/AdamConwayIE on Reddit.

Best Buy’s Pixel 7 deal beats Amazon’s Prime Day pricing, with one caveat
The Google Pixel 7 goes for just $400 if you buy it from Best Buy, though you'll need to activate it with Best Buy to avail of that offer.
The Google Pixel 7 is a great smartphone that launched at the end of last year. Logitech's G Pro X Superlight is at its lowest price ever, and here's why I love it
The Logitech G Pro Superlight is an amazing gaming mouse for tactical shooters, and it's at an all-time low for Prime Day.
I absolutely love gaming, and I've competed at a decently high level in Ireland in titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and VALORANT. I've been playing tactical shooters for years, but enjoy more laidback titles too such as Call of Duty or the recently-released Battlebit. However, one of the biggest upgrades I have made to my setup has been a wireless mouse, and that mouse is the Logitech G Pro Wireless. Now, the Superlight edition of that mouse is on sale, and having used both, I can personally attest to it being an excellent deal.
You won’t find a better Pixel phone deal than this on Prime Day

If you're considering building a NAS, you'll probably want a lot of storage, so why not start with 18TB at an all-time low price?
Network-Attached Storage (or NAS, for short) is quite common, and is a great way for you to host a ton of files on your network for easy access at any time. Some people rip their DVDs and CDs to them, some people use them as backup servers, and some people just like to have a lot of easily-accessed storage. A NAS can be extremely useful, and if you're looking to build one or upgrade an existing one, then this 18TB Western Digital Red Pro HDD at its lowest price on Amazon ever might be a great place to start.

How to upgrade the SSD in the Asus ROG Ally
If you picked up a shiny new Asus ROG Ally and you want to install a new SSD in it, it's a lot easier than you think.
The Asus ROG Ally is a high-end video game handheld powered by Windows, and the highest-end device you can get has 512GB of storage. That's a decent amount of storage, but installing a game like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will take up nearly 20% of that right away. Couple that with other games that are all getting close to the 100GB mark, and all of a sudden, your storage has run out. Upgrading your device's storage is a great remedy to that, and thankfully, Asus makes it really easy. In fact, I would argue that it's an easier process than installing Windows on a normal PC.
Asus ROG Ally review: Windows makes this difficult to recommend
Plagued by Windows-related problems and quality control issues, the ROG Ally is a fantastic device that's hard to recommend currently.
Portable gaming handhelds are really starting to take off following the advent of the Steam Deck, and one of the most hyped introductions so far has been the Asus ROG Ally. It has a few differences from the Steam Deck that make it an exciting prospect for those who want a more powerful alternative, with a Ryzen Z1 processor, a 120Hz IPS 1080p display, and native Windows support.
UFS 4.0 is the next flash storage specification, but what does it mean for you?
If you've heard about UFS 4.0 but aren't sure what to expect, then you've come to the right place.
Your next flagship smartphone will likely have UFS 4.0, or Universal Flash Storage 4.0. A bigger version number usually means better, but what exactly does that mean for you? Why is UFS 4.0 an improvement over UFS 3.1? What even is UFS?
ChatGPT vs Bing Chat vs Google Bard: What are the differences?
If you've been trying to figure out if ChatGPT, Bing Chat, or Google Bard is better, then you've come to the right place to find the pros and cons.
ChatGPT, Bing Chat, and Google Bard are all part of a wave of generative AI models that can take your text prompts and give you unique outputs, which can help you generate emails, process information, or research online. However, with all of these systems being similar, it's hard to pick which one is actually the best. So, let's analyze the differences between the big three, and which is better based on the situation.
Bing Chat: What is it, and how does it work?
Why is Bing Chat the best AI chatbot available right now?
Bing Chat immediately followed ChatGPT and became one of the most sophisticated chatbots around, and that's partly because it's powered by Microsoft Prometheus, which is based on GPT-4. GPT-4 is developed by OpenAI, which also developed ChatGPT, and Bing Chat is the only free way to currently access it. What's more, it's connected to the internet, so you can make use of it to help you research. What exactly is Bing Chat, though, and how does it work?
Best Steam Deck mods: Hardware and software tweaks you need to try
These are some of the best changes you can make to your Steam Deck
The Steam Deck being analogous to a laptop but in handheld form makes it a viable device for modding, and that's exactly what many people have done. While it's a gaming device first and foremost, you can do basically anything on it thanks to the control that Valve hands over to the users. Not only can you modify the software running on it, but you can make hardware modifications too and even install another operating system if you wish. If you're looking for ideas, we have a few for you below.
What is the AV1 codec? How does it make files smaller?
AV1 is an important codec that's taking the internet by storm, but what is it, and how does it work? Here's everything you need to know.
If you've been following the media streaming scene for a number of years, you may have seen a lot of excitement around rumored support for the AV1 codec. While it is indeed a pretty big step forward from codecs like H264 and VP9, there's a lot more to the story than that. AV1, also known as AOMedia Video 1, was first released in March of 2018, and it's been a slow road in its adoption across the industry. This is the entire story of AV1, how it improves over VP9 and H.264, and why it's a big deal.
Asus Zenfone 10 review: The best small smartphone gets even better
Asus is back with the new Zenfone 10 to try and retain the best small phone crown. Little has changed, but what has really matters here.
Small phones are hard to come by nowadays, with the best options for consumers basically being the regular Samsung Galaxy S23 or one of the smaller iPhone 14 devices. However, the Zenfone 8 started a trend of Asus prioritizing small phones, so last year's Zenfone 9 stayed smaller than both Samsung's and Apple's offerings. Despite rumors to the contrary, the Asus Zenfone 10 retains that smaller 5.9-inch form factor. You won't get any flashy or new features, but you'll get a standard smartphone with a nice design, decent camera, and excellent performance that won't take up a lot of space in your pocket.
Apple has been awfully quiet about allowing sideloading on iPhones in the EU
Apple has been really quiet about allowing sideloading, but it seems to be an inevitability.
Apple has always been cavalier when it comes to sideloading your own applications on your smartphone. It's something that the company does not support and, in fact, has gone to pretty far lengths to prevent in the past. In recent years it's dialed back its opposition, but it's likely that it did so as a result of growing regulatory pressure. However, in 2022, a landmark decision by the European Union meant that Apple with iOS 17 would very likely need to allow iPhone users to download apps from outside the official App Store.
Apple's Game Porting Toolkit unlocks a whole new world of gaming on your Mac
Apple's solution to a lack of games on MacOS is to basically take the Steam Deck approach.
If you own a MacBook or Mac, then you almost definitely didn't pick one up for gaming. They've never been known for that, which is a shame given the sheer amount of power that you can find in any Macbook these days thanks to Apple Silicon. However, at the company's WWDC, it announced the Game Porting Toolkit (GPTK), a way for developers to test if their games could work well when ported to a Mac. Even better is that anyone can install it with a bit of work and MacOS Sonoma, and that's exactly what we did.

Android 14 is available via beta channel, and you can install it on your Google Pixel right now.
Android 14 is finally here! For lucky owners of the Pixel 7a or any Pixel phone as old as the Pixel 4a 5G, you'll be among the first users to see what Android 14 has to offer, as these phones can participate in Google's beta initiative.
